Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) remains determined to do whatever is needed as safely and as quickly as possible to restore electrical power to all customers whose lives and neighborhoods were impacted by Hurricane Charley.


Since the state began to feel the effects of the Category 4 hurricane, FPL has restored power to 577,000 customers of the 874,000 that were originally left without electricity.


“We at FPL appreciate the patience of our customers as we continue our around-the-clock efforts,” said Geisha Williams, vice-president of electrical distribution. The logistical challenges posed by this massive rebuilding and restoration effort are compounded for the electrical workers by many of the same challenges confronted by residents of the damaged areas: hot and humid weather, long days and nights and limited services.
